Born and raised in the coastal city of Nice in the south of France, Adrien Chenel is a second-generation art dealer. Following in his father's footsteps, in 1999 he founded, with his brother Ollivier and his sister-in-law Gladys, the Galerie Chenel, specialising in Roman, Greek and Egyptian antiquities. Standing on the banks of the Seine, opposite the Louvre, the gallery has quickly become a reference point for collectors and museums alike.
The apartment he welcomes us into today, which was on the verge of collapse, has recently been completely renovated.
Home is (((where you can have a good coffee))). As a child, I dreamed of living in a house (((like my neighbour Romain Ginac. Bugatti furniture, seashells, Roman sculptures and Picasso ceramics gave it a poetic and natural feel))). Top of my wish list for household items is (((a set of Ogata glass or metal tumblers))). My secret to being a good host is (((my homemade lemon risotto))). My favourite object is (((a 17th century Spanish table in rosewood and wrought iron))). The secret to good interior design is (((authenticity))).
The feeling of home represents a (((haven of peace.))) My favourite room is (((the bathroom, with its cobalt blue Venetian mirror and floor-to-ceiling concrete walls.))) The design reference I always come back to is (((Luis Barragán.))) My favourite memory of my home is (((when I had no table and had picnics on the floor with a white linen tablecloth, candles and silver colonial plates.))) The historic home I'd love to live in is (((Villa Albani or a traditional Kanak house.))) Every home should have (((Nina Charles flowers.)))
