Gallerist
We caught up with designer and gallerist Patrick McGrath to photograph the West Soho apartment he shares with his partner Reinaldo Leandro (the other half of design studio Ashe Leandro) and their dog Frankie. McGrath has just announced his forthcoming exhibition at his eponymous gallery on the seventh floor of the Stanford White-designed Cable Building, which has caused quite a stir. In collaboration with designer Michael Bargo and famous photographer Bruce Weber, under the name <#<"ICONS: Antiquities, Jean Prouvé and Bruce Weber">#>, the exhibition combines works from different periods and styles.
This mixture is the common thread that also runs through McGrath's home, where styles and periods engage in dialogue in a colourful and nuanced mix. Parallel to his gallery, he makes his mark in a design studio with his artistic approach to interior design, which brings a welcoming touch to the homes of collectors and art enthusiasts.
Home is where (((you can feel comfortable.))) As a child, I dreamed of living in a house like (((Martha Stewart's.))) My favourite memory of my home (((is when I brought my dog Frankie home.))) My favourite object is a silver tray (((filled with postcards from friends and Polaroid photos.))) Top of my wish list for household items is (((new bedding.))) The secret to good interior design (((is a good designer.)))
The feeling of home represents (((security.))) My favourite room is my bedroom. The design reference I keep coming back to is (((White Birch Farm by Jed Johnson for Peter Brant in Greenwich.))) The historic home I'd love to live in (((is the Hôtel de Sully.))) The best interior designer (((is Jacques Grange.)))
