This book accompanies the eponymous exhibition at the Azzedine Alaïa Foundation (Paris, 2024–2026), which for the first time brings together the work of the renowned Franco-Tunisian couturier, Azzedine Alaïa, and the Japanese postmodern designer, Shiro Kuramata.

Through more than twenty exceptional pieces of furniture and objects by Kuramata, alongside nearly twenty haute couture creations by Alaïa, the publication explores the connection between the two artists, founded on their shared pursuit of lightness, structural purity and poetic abstraction. Kuramata’s design, infused with Japanese tradition and material innovation, engages in a dialogue with Alaïa’s sculptural forms and radical approach to tailoring, creating an atmosphere of subtle balance between art, design and fashion.

The book includes essays that contextualise the work of both creators, together with photographs and a carefully produced 88-page edition. A must-have for admirers of contemporary design, fashion and creativity.
